From the Uplands to Doha

The Monroe County Climate Strategies Workshop, a dynamic full-day event on December 09, brought together a diverse group of community-wide stakeholders. Their mission: craft urgent and effective climate strategies that directly tackle identified vulnerabilities. As you read this, our dedicated McKinney Climate Fellow diligently compiles a comprehensive report encapsulating these crucial findings.

Simultaneously, at COP28 in Doha, delegates wrapped up their discussions, wrestling with the critical tension between the scientific imperative to slash fossil fuel usage and the communities reliant on these fuels for their livelihoods. The coverage by The New York Times and other reputable outlets provides insightful perspectives that I strongly recommend you explore.

What's abundantly clear is the presence of astute minds actively addressing this global challenge—from the halls of the Monroe County Courthouse to the international stage in Doha and every point in between. The synergy of collaboration holds immense potential, surpassing our wildest aspirations or darkest doom scenarios. The time for action is now, and the responsibility lies with us. Our communities entrust us with this pivotal task, but only together can accomplish more than we ever dared to dream. Let's embark on this imperative journey without delay.

I have a plan to provide ongoing Climate Resilience. If you agree with my assessment of tackling the effects of climate change, click here to support my campaign today.
