4 Critical Days of Action for Healthcare, Democracy, Jobs and Education

Are you fed up with the incompetence of the Trump/Musk team and the Braun Governorship?

I am, and I encourage you to mark your calendars for these days of action!

Protect Medicaid Day of Action
Tuesday, April 01, 11:00 am - 2:30 pm
Indiana Statehouse 3rd Floor North Atrium

This is no prank: Indiana Medicaid is under attack! Federal cuts, state-level legislation, and administrative changes at FSSA threaten to kick hundreds of thousands of low-income Hoosiers off of their healthcare. Indiana’s Medicaid programs provide essential healthcare coverage for nearly 2 million people in Indiana – that’s 1 in 5 Hoosiers! But extreme cuts and changes to Medicaid risk the lives, health, and economic stability of our state. Cuts to Medicaid like those proposed in SB 2 would destabilize Indiana’s healthcare system, driving up costs, and making care less accessible for all of us. We’re coming together on April 1st from across Indiana to demand our elected officials protect our care. We won’t be fooled: we know Hoosier health depends on Medicaid, and refuse cuts to our care! Join us at 11 am at the Indiana Statehouse for a rally, press conference, and the opportunity to meet with legislators and share why Medicaid matters to you.

Monroe County Courthouse and locations across the Country!

National and local organizations are coming together across the country in a nationwide protest against the billionaire takeover of our government and the Trump-Musk assault on our freedoms and communities. We’re demanding action to remove corrupt politicians from office, reverse the extreme damage they’ve already done, and reclaim our democracy. Check out handsoff2025.com for more information.

Lutherans for Love and Justice Call Out Meeting
Sunday, April 06, 9:45 am or 12:15 pm
St. Thomas Lutheran Church
(3800 E. Third St. Bloomington, IN)
Scripture is filled with examples of God’s people advocating against unjust policies and urging governmental officials to create policies that promote fairness and allow all life to flourish. Amid the flurry of political change we are in the midst of is an opportunity to serve our neighbor through advocacy. Congregation leaders have identified four key areas of advocacy—these are not the only areas where we might undertake advocacy work, but are based on the congregation’s past work—refugees and immigrants, LGBTQIA+, hunger and poverty, and creation care. If you are interested in joining the work of advocating—this may include creating congregation-wide letter writing opportunities, working with the ELCA Advocacy office, responding with calls and emails to urgent issues, or coordinating the congregation's overall efforts—please attend a call out meeting next Sunday, April 6 in the library immediately following both services.
