Peter Iversen Seeks to Restore Trust in the County Board of Commissioners
Monroe County, IN- Peter Iversen is running for Monroe County Commissioner in the Second District to restore trust in that office. Announcing his filing today, Peter Iversen will build that trust by focusing on his vision for our exceptional community.
● A housing supply that meets local demand.
● A tourism sector that remains strong through convention center expansion and renewing collaborative relationships across jurisdictions.
● Ensuring that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are embedded in all decisions to embrace our multiracial democracy.
● Wages that remain competitive through improved relationships with labor organizations, local businesses, economic development, and educational institutions.
● Combating the Climate Crisis by ensuring citizens can access tools for increased resilience.
Peter Iversen is a leader with a proven record of community-wide public service. He currently serves on the Monroe County Council, where he holds leadership roles on the Personnel Administration Committee (PAC), Substance Use Disorder Advisory Commission (SUDAC), the Justice Fiscal Advisory Committee (JFAC), and the Environmental Commission. Peter additionally serves as a liaison to many Monroe County departments in Civil Government, Community, Infrastructure, and Justice, notably serving as the liaison to the Health Department throughout the COVID pandemic.
Peter Iversen is a Monroe County resident who deeply cares about our future. He is a proud Indiana University alumnus, receiving a master's degree in public affairs from the #1 ranked Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. His wife of 15 years, Leah Sinn Iversen, is a social worker, and together they raise their two daughters in Monroe County.
